One thing belonging to one thing and it's 's Many things belonging to one or more things and its s'
Usually. Just start with that, and it's a good start.
It's a total blagger though, I know. The whole thing to do with how it works in all the various instances messed my head for years.

But the men's poo and women's poo in the example belong to many and not just one and it's not after the S.
Total blag. Thanks for trying I'm just not getting it today ha. Will try again tomorrow. College has fried my brain!

That's just because the plural doesn't end in an s. I understand why they don't but it would complicate things more. It's an exception to the rule, because they are exceptions to the plural rule of putting an s on the end as well. Ignore those, that's that courage's fault.

I know there'll be other examples that probably don't fit either rule as well, but, the only way to get the head round any of this, well, anything at all in fact, is to learn the basics that fit most examples, and then break the rest down later on. It's stuff like that that fucked me up with it too.
