"Near the prehistoric Stonehenge monument, archeologists have found the buried traces of a "super henge" more than 4,900 feet in circumference. That's about as big around as the Astrodome and Cowboys Stadium combined -- and 14 times larger than the iconic stone circle. The super henge is comprised of dozens of newly discovered features, including an array of up to more than 50 ten-foot pillars, some of which may still be deep underground. The surveyors also uncovered 17 ritual monuments, including "massive prehistoric pits" that may have been dug along astronomic lines, and a "long barrow" -- a huge wooden building believed to have been used as a mortuary for bodies after "defleshing." Archeologists believe the Stonehenge complex was built and modified over a period of 11,000 years. Questions about the function of its various structures remain." I absolutely love stone circles, megaliths and neolithic tombs. They're just so full of mystery. I watched a documentary on Stone Henge not long ago, think it was on Netflix, will try find it.
I don't suppose they will ever really know what they were for, other than a place of worship to welcome the sun and the coming of new seasons. To be honest I think it's probably best that way. Keeps them more mysterious. The true purpose of them might be discovered to be something completely pointless, and take away a lot of the fun.

It's all just supposition anyway. They can say this or that or the other, but without speaking direction to the people who built them, they'll never know for sure.
Personally, I think 'Why did they need a reason, other than because they could?'
It could just be one of the first art installations for all it matters.
They could just be fucking with people, thinking 'nobody will be able to, or want to move it, and they'll never know how or why we did it, arf'

Love that pic My fave pyramid theory is that they were power stations. And people carried electric lamps that worked when you held them because the pyramid was emitting some sort of electricity shit.

Holy shit.. wut!?! Haha... did you have Abruptum playing in the background!? We had the sound of the dark breeze, and the occasional shriek of a grouse on the moors. Haha. It was pretty fun. You couldn't see a thing. Even with the headlamps, the fog was so dense the lights just illuminated the fog. So you couldn't ready see anything until you were right next to it. Pretty spooky.
