Anyone on here listen to any Eastern music?
I listen to quite a bit of Indian classical music, with flutes, sitars, sarodes etc, but also have some quite chilled electronic Indian music, some of it quite dubby. Can link up if anyone is interested in any of it..
I also heard this song the other day.
She is from Algeria, so not really 'Eastern' but deffo in a similar vein.
Absolutely fallen in love with this song.

Post more Let's get further into all this sort of stuff. Can't listen just yet, but more examples are great. I am definitely into eastern 'influenced' things at the very least, it seems to translate over into metal and electronic sounds really well. Some of the 'original' music it is influenced by, that I've heard, I'm not totally sold on, but always up for hearing more. Sometimes the vocals and the vocal patterns of traditional Eastern / Asian music do my head in a bit, but, a lot of the more atmospheric and chilled out stuff, with sitars and odd percussion is, certainly interesting at least.

This is an easy one to get on with, if you're not too keen on the notation patterns of Indian Classical.

This is a chilled dub by an Indian-born producer, Bally Sagoo.
This full album is on Youtube if you like it. The album is called Dub of Asia. Well chilled.

This was a legend in Indian Classical music. Asad Ali Khan. Died in 2011, he was one of a small few who held on to the Rudra Venna instrument, not many people play it anymore.
This Asavari raag is fully dark. Skip it on to 3.40.
