Okay, years ago, I *think* it was John Peel (or possibly the Evening Session) who had a section in his radio show called 'Compare and Contrast' (felt a homage to that was necessary, either way)... So, yeah, let's compare some songs.. out of the first three, there's one I heard and spotted today for the first time, and the other two I've known for ages. Here's the latest one I discovered. The 2 minute mark of THIN LIZZY'S 'EMERALD' has been, shall we say, delicately 'lifted' and very slightly altered by BLACK PYRAMID, for the main riff of 'NO LIFE KING'. Pretty sneaky really since, it's not one of Thin Lizzy's main songs (although from a main album), and also they only play through the riff twice in the whole song. See what you think. There's no way you're telling me that Black Pyramid didn't know about this Thin Lizzy album. sellotapethecat

Even more likely that the 'rip-ers' knew about the 'rip-ees' is Darkthrone taking more than liberally from The Cure.
Main bassline of THE CURE'S 'THE LOVECATS' (more or less) makes up the main riff of 'HANS SISTE VINTER' by DARKTHRONE. I think this one is a bit too close for comfort.
Darkthrone obviously use it better... but, then, I don't like The Cure hardly at all.

Almost at exactly the same time on each of these songs, the 'similarities' happen, 1'02... that's pretty weird in itself actually!
BLONDIE'S 'HEART OF GLASS' and RUSS ABBOT'S 'ATMOSPHERE', aside from the Blondie original awkwardly dropping one note out to give it a slightly weirder, off kilter feel, this is pretty much the same.
There's gonna be loads of these turn up in time!

Here's an interesting one. Wonder if anyone had spotted this one. joebassdude reckon this will be up your street the most. Burzum - Det som engang var Autechre - Piezo Both of them came out in 1994! Interesting. I always thought it was Autechre who were influenced by Burzum on this song, or it's just a coincidence. Seems odd that the song structure are actually quite similar, in the fact that there's a few bits at the start before that 'main theme' comes in, which then plays out for ages on both songs. Mostly noticeable at the 3' mark how similar they are. Compare that to the main tune of the Burzum song that comes in at 5' Both pieces are respective favourites of mine in each of their genres (electronic music and black metal).

"Baa Baa Black Sheep", "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYandZ", and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" all ripped each other off massively.
Illuminati, son.

Haha... according to this, Mozart is vaguely responsible. blog.dictionary.com/abcsong/So, by that logic, Mozart is the Illuminati. We're going deep here, folks. 'Twinkle twinkle little star' apparently came first.
